The Business Systems Engineer will provide second tier support to resolve end user issues, provide application administration, document troubleshooting and knowledgebase articles for Service Desk (first tier support), execute maintenance activities, and implement workflows under the direction of Senior Engineers and Management as it relates to Clarest business systems.
Location: Remote
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
Schedule: 9AM – 5PM EST (On-Call Every Third Week)
Reports To: Director of Business Systems

Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve escalated issues for end users and/or business process workflows within 3rd party business systems.
- Execute application upgrades and maintenance routines.
- Assists with defining and documenting functional and non-functional requirements to create consistency across enterprise systems.
- Implements methods, procedures, and systems (both automated and manual) to improve the processing and flow of information within the company as prescribed by senior resources.
- Provide detailed documentation of moderately complex system specifications for maintenance and upgrades, including system scripts, system installation procedures, system backup and recovery techniques and system test methods.
- Create ad-hoc reports for pharmacy personnel related to various business systems to provide prompt decision making capabilities to management.
- Assist in documenting system and operational processes.
- Arrive at possible solution alternatives factoring in gap resolution, functional areas, acceptability of solution to user community, technical feasibility and efficiency.
- Act as mentor for junior department resources and provide troubleshooting techniques and technical training.
- Any and other responsibilities as assigned by the manager to support these and other responsibilities in the department.
- Assimilate and understand the core functionality of information systems used within the company.
- The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources or the Compliance Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred or equivalent industry experience (5+ years):
Skills + Abilities:
- User application support in clinical / healthcare environment.
- Systems analysis and/or development.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems, hardware and software.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications including MS Office Suite, Visio, and related business applications.
- Understanding of relational databases and database management concepts (SQL preferred).
- Supporting, building, and testing computer-based systems.
- Self-starter with ability to provide direct customer support and mentor others.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Knowledge of healthcare, EMRs, and HL7 (desired).
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell scripting (desired).
- Microsoft Power Platform knowledge, designing flows in Power Automate, or applications using Power Apps (desired).
